PrepMD was formed in June 2009 as PrepMD LLC by co-founders Matt O’Neal and Bob Mattioli. Matt and Bob combined have had 80 successful years of experience in the medical device industry, each beginning their careers as sales representatives, and advancing both as senior managers as well as officers of medical device corporations.
The impetus for forming PrepMD came from Matt and Bob’s own experiences as hiring managers and builders of medical device sales organizations. Each recognized that the critical problem in hiring successfully and consistently begins with the inability to predict the risk associated with making a “bad hire”. That risk of bad hire amplifies in medical device sectors like cardiac rhythm management because of the prolonged training time (12-18 months) necessary to validate an individual’s competencies. New hire “wash-outs” can occur as late as 4 - 6 months post hire date, costing valuable time and resources, once again exposing the manager to another risky new hire effort.
Matt and Bob believed that “new hire risk” could be markedly reduced by forming PrepMD. Their basic philosophy is to provide hiring managers with access to a more well “prepared” new hire candidate; a candidate not only well prepared in the foundations of medical device technology and clinical applications, but also pre-identified as a high quality new hire prior to training, and professionally developed to meet the expectations of the manager, the team, and the company.
Over the past eight years, PrepMD has conducted 20 sessions, training over 350 participants. PrepMD is maintaining a 94% placement rate across all graduate candidates.
